BAXI Manresa is eliminated from the Basketball Champions League after falling on the complicated track of La Laguna Tenerife (81-71).
After an even start with an exchange of baskets, Txus Vidorreta's players took control of the scoreboard thanks to their accurate outside shooting. At the end of the first quarter, the Canaries led by four points (18-14).
In the second period, Diego Ocampo's team struggled to find the back of the net and could not get any closer (24-18). However, the visitors continued to fight, managing to come back and even take a six-point lead, which the islanders reduced to three at halftime (37-40).
Coming out of the locker room, the defenses clearly dominated the attacks, especially those of the home team. This allowed them to turn the score around again and create a nine-point margin (57-48). Two baskets by Reyes and Dani Pérez brought the Manresa team closer at the end of the third quarter (57-52).
In the final ten minutes, the visitors, led by Obasohan, refused to give up and closed the gap to within two points (61-59). Tenerife, for its part, remained calm and managed to keep their opponents at bay to remain unbeaten in the European competition.
On Saturday, starting at 6:00 PM, BAXI Manresa will play another Catalan derby at the Nou Congost, this time against Pierre Oriola's Hiopos Lleida.
