BAXI Manresa was unable to secure another victory at the Nou Congost, losing the Catalan derby to Hiopos Lleida in a duel that was decided in the final stretch (89-95).
The match started evenly, with the attacks clearly dominating the defenses. The visitors scored nine consecutive points and took a seven-point lead (7-14), but the Reds, led by Reyes, responded and closed the first quarter just one point behind (28-29).
In the second period, a 0-13 run allowed the Lleida team, with very accurate shooting, to open up a gap on the scoreboard and obtain a maximum advantage of eleven points (39-50). Despite the disadvantage, the home side continued to work and went into halftime only five points down (53-58).
Coming out of the locker room, the game was very even, which favored Gerard Encuentra's men, who remained ahead throughout and closed the third quarter with a four-point lead (72-76). Therefore, everything had to be decided in the final ten minutes.
In this, the Bages team came out strongly and quickly turned the score around (77-76). But Lleida scored nine points in a row and regained a lead that the Reds could no longer overturn.
On Sunday, starting at 12:30 PM, BAXI Manresa will play again at the Nou Congost, this time against Casademont Zaragoza.
