BAXI Manresa couldn't secure victory on the difficult court of a Dreamland Gran Canaria team that was more accurate in the final stretch (94-89).
The match got off to a very even start between the two teams, who traded baskets constantly. At the end of the first quarter, a final basket by Steinbergs put Diego Ocampo's men ahead by a point (18-19).
In the second, the Reds trailed the islanders for most of the half, leading by as many as seven points (34-27). However, the visitors didn't pull away, and only a basket by Homesley prevented them from taking a 42-41 lead at halftime.
After the break, the game was again even until the final stretch of the third quarter, when the Manresa side achieved a maximum lead of eleven points (60-71). However, the Canaries reacted quickly and ended the period only three points behind (68-71).
In the final ten minutes, Bages continued to dominate with small leads, but an 11-0 run, with the home side constantly shooting from outside, proved too much for Diego Ocampo's team, who tried until the end without success.
On Tuesday, starting at 8:45 PM, BAXI Manresa has a vital Basketball Champions League match at the Nou Congost against Italian side Pallacanestro Reggiana.
